SHOW 19 SEP 25-OCT 01, 2015
Critics consider Sugaray Rayford to be one of the last blues shouters in the same league as greats of the past; Big Mama Thornton, Jimmy Rushing, Big Joe Turner. A product of the black gospel church, Rayford fronted popular blues and funk bands in Southern California for nearly a decade before launching a solo career in 2010. His critically acclaimed sophomore release was on Delta Groove and featured a host of famed talent, including Kim Wilson and Kid Anderson. Rayford’s powerful voice also leads the all-star revue project, The Mannish Boys appearing on their last two albums and winning a Blues Award in 2013. His music talent has also led him to Hollywood movie and television soundtracks and feature projects like Igor Prado’s Way Down South. He released his third album, Southside in 2015 and remains one of the biggest artist in demand on the blues scene.
